Hello, I Am a Nudist!

Hello, My name is Randy and I am a Nudist!

In a way I wish that I had the confidence to introduce myself this way to new people I meet, but maybe sometime down the road. I am not afraid of letting people know that I am a nudist, however I do have some different approaches.

Being in the Vancouver BC area, there is an advantage in that almost everyone knows about Wreck Beach, whether they want to admit to it or not. Most have probably been there at least once, although they never would admit it. I find that there is usually some way to bring Wreck Beach up in a conversation, and then see the person’s reaction. At this point I know whether I can openly tell them I am a nudist, or hold back for some time in the future. I have found that this is a very easy of introducing nudism.

Another fairly successful approach is to talk about “Our Private Membership Campground”, describing the grounds with the 7.5 acre lake, 320 acres of forest, and an 85 foot waterfall. Oh, by the way, did I mention that it is a nudist club?

I have never had a strong negative reaction to letting someone know that I am a nudist. Most people have some questions, and some stay rather quiet. Some outright admit that “I could never do that”. I never push anyone, once they know that I am a nudist I will mention Lake Bronson Club whenever I have a chance, or after an event weekend I will let them know the fun that we had on that weekend.

Wreck Beach, the Beach of Beaches

Living in Manitoba I had heard of Wreck Beach, and in the back of my mind I knew that sometime down the road I would give it a visit. Twice we visited Vancouver, and the weather was not even warm enough to take off a jacket, never mind go nude anywhere, so we never looked for it. Years later I was transferred to Vancouver, arrived in early March, but was too busy working six or seven day weeks to even think about warmer weather. Finally late spring the weather was nice, I had a day off, and we decided to take our dog for a walk. We were not looking for Wreck Beach, but we did make a long, long hike along the waterfront and did find this absolutely beautiful beach, and most of the people were nude.

We fell in love with Wreck Beach that first day. It is a community of it’s own, and before long we got to know a lot of the vendors and many of the different “locations”. The food vendors were something else. Felafels, ostrich burgers, deli sandwiches, sates, bison burgers, hot dogs, chinese buns, pizza, you name it, and it is probably available. In fact, just about anything is available on the beach! Back then there was the casino, which is still around, and the banker and the cell phone booth!

It is a beach where you can just sit back and watch the world go by, watch the planes land or take off from Vancouver Airport, watch the ocean freighters go by, or even watch the bald eagles circle overhead.

The ocean is always refreshing, and at low tide you can walk out for almost a mile. At high tide, it is a few steps to get totally wet fast!

Best of is the people. You can safely go into the water and leave your items on your towel. They will be safe, as all your neighbours automatically will keep an eye on things. As the afternoon progresses, the musicians make an appearance and will jam well into the evening, but always a mellow sound. You will never hear radios or sound boxes booming (they tend not to swim too well). There is a deep appreciation of nature, and for a beach with no services, it is probably one of the cleanest beaches around.

A Place to Relax

Unlike most of the membership at Lake Bronson Club, our drive to the lake involves crossing the border into the US, and shopping as there are many restrictions of food items allowed across the border, so our total trip down is usually good for a four hour trip. When we finally get there on Friday night, we unpack quickly, have dinner, and just relax for a while. Those “lucky ones” as we see them will usually head to the Lodge for a sauna and spa, and some socializing.

The sun is always shining on Saturday morning, unfortunately not always at Lake Bronson. However there is usually something going on, as Saturday morning is a good time to get some of those odd jobs done on the lot, or around the club. After all, during the summer months you want to get on the beach and enjoy the sun when it does shine. Otherwise, there is always something to get done so that the next weekend there is even more time on the beach. In the off season, there is usually something going on in the Lodge.

Every Saturday evening there is a pot luck dinner. The theme is announced weeks ahead of time, and Lake Bronson Club has some great chefs! Thirteen times a year there will be a dance on Saturday night. We have our own professional DJ who usually keeps the music going as long as people want to dance. The morning after a dance is a pot luck breakfast.

Sundays are usually open, beach time in the summer, visiting friends during the off season, and then pack up and head home.

There are always impromptu events happening. Pool tournaments, Wii challenges, cribbage, and even sharing jigsaw puzzles happens regularly. The sauna and spa are available around the clock, and a lot of socializing happens in the spa.

Lake Bronson Club is also well known for it’s hiking trails. More trails have been created in the last couple of years, and work is in progress to open the DNR land around the club to nude hiking as well. There is an old goldmine nearby that begs for explorers!

My Favourite AANR Nudist Club

When my wife and I were looking for a nudist club that we could call our second home, we had a number of specific “wants” to be filled. We are both nature lovers and prefer to swim in a lake or in the ocean, not in some chlorinated swimming pool. We love hikes in the forest, and watching birds and wildlife. Ideally a lot where we could keep our motor home all year would be nice, no need to burn up so much gasoline each visit. On to the internet, and it did not take long to find Lake Bronson Club, just north of Sultan, WA. I made the phone call, and yes, we could come down this coming weekend. We arrived after dark, parked the motor home on the RV lot, set it up and went to bed. The sun was shining when I got up, and I took a walk around the RV lot. After my wife got up, we went to the office, registered, and got a map of the grounds. After breakfast we went exploring, saw the lake, hiked down to the 85 foot waterfall, and walked past many of the member lots.We met many members who openly welcomed us to Lake Bronson Club.

This was our paradise! We knew then that this is where we belonged, and on our next visit applied for membership. As Lake Bronson Club is a 100% Club, we became AANR members right away. Stay tuned, there will be more on Lake Bronson Club in upcoming posts.

How Did I Get Involved in Nude Recreation?

How Did I Get Involved in Nude Recreation?

How did I get involved in nude recreation? For me, it was a slow process that started when I was twelve years old. I grew up in a two bedroom house with my parents and four siblings. There was never any nudity at home, we were brought up to maintain our modesty, and never saw my parents or siblings naked, and, of course, no one ever saw me naked. No way, and until about fifteen I would never even go shirtless around my family.

Back to being twelve, I had joined the Boy Scouts and the following summer was my first summer camp. We arrived at camp in the afternoon, got everything set up, and then it was time for a swim in the lake. This was private property that we were camping on, and the beach was private as well. I then got the shock of my life! Swimming would be done in the nude! The older boys who had been on the camp before were used to it, some of the “newbies” had no problem with it, but there were a few of us that found this totally wrong. However, not wanting to be too obvious still standing on the beach, I moved close to the water, quickly took off my clothes, covered my private parts with my hands, and ran in. Once in the water I no longer had to worry about being nude, and I found swimming without a swim suit very enjoyable. Now to get back to shore and get dressed without anyone seeing me naked! It was not until the second summer camp the following year that I actually became comfortable getting undressed and walking down to the water with the other boys. This experience got me dreaming about being able to be nude more often, and even dreamed about living in a private area, where I could be nude whenever I wanted when I grew up.

Some dreams do come true! Years later I met a wonderful woman who was comfortable with her body, and was not shy about nudity. We got married and we were both nude at home when we could. A few years later we bought some acreage that was all bush land and built our home in the middle. Here we could be nude outside, and I totally enjoyed the sun over my body, and the freedom of no clothes. What a joy to do gardening naked! However, our nudity was all private, and we did not share it with anyone.

A number of years later I was transferred to Vancouver BC, and we quickly found Wreck Beach. This was a whole new experience for us. I was very comfortable being nude around males, but had never been nude in mixed company. Surprising to me, it actually took many visits there before I got up the nerve to get naked. It took me twenty two years from my first nudist experience in the boy scouts to enjoying full mixed company nudism at Wreck Beach  I never looked back, and later we got even more involved in nude recreation by joining Lake Bronson Family Nudist Club and visiting nudist clubs across the US and around the world.
